Black pepper is used in Wysong Pet Diets because it is high in piperine. This compound increases vitamin and mineral absorption by as much as 250% or more. Piperine also has anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, and anti-depression activity. It can also help lower blood pressure, regulate vasodilation and boost the immune system.

3/3 Cats refuse to eat it
I wish I had read some of the recent reviews before putting the cart before the horse and buying three 5 lbs of this food (15 lbs of this that nobody will eat!) because all 3 of my cats won't even try it. My prescription urinary health food is getting so expensive, I figured this was a good, cheaper alternative, but I was sorely mistaken. Maybe your cat will like it, but I highly doubt it. My 3 cats have very different palates, but the one thing they agree on is this food isn't even worth trying. I've left it out for 3 whole days and barely so much as a nibble. I noticed that it also smells more like vegetables than meat to me which may be the reason why it's not as appealing to them. This was our first ever time trying this brand so I don't know anything the food before the formula change, but it's a big thumbs down from all 4 of us.

When they need it - they need it
Having paid for 4 BIG expensive surgeries for three males in the last 8 months - a fifth BIG surgery looming........you decide as a cat mom that some things are not optional - like new kibble. More than 35 years ago I knew and shopped from WYSONG. Somehow I got away from them. Now everyone - all 17 indoor kitties had to transition from regular kibble to WYSONG URETIC......boy and girls. The girls seem to like the UT foods better than the boys - go figure. I hope to avoid the third big surgery for my boy.

Formula change :(
My two used to love this food and it was effective in keeping crystals away (rx food was no good for them)...but then they changed the formula and they won't eat it anymore. I thought we got a bad bag and Chewy sent a replacement...same thing. Called out to Wysong and confirmed the formula changed....not sure why, I'm sure they have good reasons but I was so happy with the previous formula. Now I've moved my cats to Iams Urinary (next healthiest from what I can see and they will actually eat)...but they are now putting on weight though the love Iams. I would prefer feeding a healthier food but I need to make sure they eat and keep crystals away!

Something is way different with this cat food
Will no longer be buying this cat food because of the changes made. Previously my cats ate this food. Now they would rather starve than eat it. They should revert back to the old formula.

Not sure about this
Smells okay but kibble is too tiny. They will eat it reluctantly since I mix it with their old food. Not sure about the UTI benefits yet.
Great quality food
Wysong is my first choice for the cats, but it's not my current cats' favorite. They do eat it when I mix it half with their preferred food. Hopefully it will be enough help for the one cat with the UTI problems. I've had my previous cats on the Wysong geriatrix when they got old - they loved Wysong and did very well with it.
My Cat refused to go near it
My kitty refused to eat it. Not even a few pieces mixed in with her normal food.
Best Urinary Cat Food Without a prescription
My cats use to eat urinary food that requires a prescription. When the price kept going up, I looked for an alternative. They hated the non prescription urinary from the same brand. So, I look for another alternative and found this brand. And they love it. It's a great food and a great price.

Mixed results
I bought this for one particular cat who I suspected might be having urinary tract issues although it was never able to be confirmed because when I took him to the vet his bladder was empty and they could not get a sample. Unfortunately Spot refuses to eat this food as his regular food, but he is very fussy and finicky. He will eat small amounts from time to time as something different from what he is eating, but not as his regular diet. So what I am doing is feeding small amounts to Spot from time to time and also to the other 3 cats, which seem to accept it most of the time. Oh well.... on to something else for Spot. I did read the ingredients and information and it sounds like a very good food. Too bad that Spot was not impressed by the taste.
